Holiday Prison Blues: Easing the Depression thru Art | Psychology Today
Earlier this week I received a beautiful, handmade holiday card from “The Candy Man,” the inmate who paints with M & M’s. [see the blog post “The Candy Man: A Prisoner Paints with Delectable Materials” here ]. In it, he wished me a happy holiday season and a healthy new year. As a result, I began to reflect on my experiences in working with inmates during the holidays, which naturally evolved into remembering the responsive increase of sadness and depression and what we did to help ease this.
